How the 12 weeks are built

Every cohort follows the same arc, at the level its entrance exams show.

  • Weeks 1 to 4: mathematical reasoning and proof.Logic, careful definitions and how to write an argument that holds up. Demanding high school courses and university STEM programs assume this skill, and most school curricula leave it for later.
  • Weeks 5 to 10: the cohort’s core topic.Advanced material matched to the cohort’s grade and level, studied in depth rather than raced through.
  • Weeks 11 and 12: final assessment and portfolio.A final assessment measured against the entrance exam, and a portfolio of your student’s best written work.
  • 24 live hours.Twelve private sessions with an instructor and twelve small-group sessions with the cohort, one of each every week.
  • Individualized recommendations.Reviewed by our curriculum lead: the courses, contests and next steps that fit what the twelve weeks showed.

The three cohorts

Weeks 5 to 10 focus on the cohort’s core topic.

CohortWhat the cohort studiesWhat it prepares for
Grade 8Algebraic reasoning beyond Algebra 1, first proofs, counting and probabilityA strong start in honors or accelerated high school math, the AMC 8 and AMC 10
Grade 9Geometry through proof, number theory, functions in depthHonors geometry and precalculus, the AMC 10
Grade 10Advanced algebra, combinatorics and probability, the ideas behind calculusAP Calculus BC and AP Statistics, the AMC 10 and 12, selective summer math programs

A week in the program

Sessions are built around problems, not lectures.

  • Private sessionOne hour with an instructor. A new idea is introduced with an example, then your student works a problem just past their comfort zone and writes up the reasoning.
  • Cohort sessionOne hour with the three other students in the cohort. Students present solutions, question each other’s reasoning and learn to defend an argument.
  • Problem setA short set of hard problems, reviewed at the start of the next private session.

What you receive at the end

Every sprint closes with evidence, not just a feeling of progress.

  • A final assessment.Scored against the entrance exam, so growth is measured rather than guessed.
  • An academic portfolio.Your student’s best written solutions and proofs from the twelve weeks, revised with instructor feedback.
  • Individualized recommendations.Courses, contests, summer programs or a next sprint, based on what the twelve weeks showed and reviewed by our curriculum lead.

Curriculum designed by a PhD statistician

A university professor with a PhD in statistics designs each cohort’s curriculum, writes the entrance exam and final assessment, and reviews every admission decision.

Sessions led by university math majors

Instructors are undergraduate mathematics majors trained on our curriculum, studying the university mathematics your student is preparing for.

Tuition

The same for every cohort.

Pay in full: $1,497

One payment for the full 12-week program. Saves $300 compared with the payment plan.

Payment plan: 3 × $599

Three monthly payments for the same 12-week program, $1,797 in total. The full schedule is shown before you enroll.

Program questions

What should my student know before starting?

Most admitted students are at least a year ahead of their grade in math. The entrance exam matters more than the course name.

Can my student continue after 12 weeks?

Yes. The recommendations at the end include whether a next sprint makes sense and at what level.

What do we need for online sessions?

A laptop with a camera and a quiet spot. A tablet with a stylus, or a phone camera for showing written work, helps but is not required.

How is the payment plan billed?

Three payments of $599, one each month of the program, charged automatically. The dates and the full $1,797 total are shown before you enroll.

Admission starts with a short application
